Board Member Review

What PARN Can Offer Your Organisation

PARN can provide a non-partisan evaluation of the performance of individual board members. Your organisation can choose from a range of assessment questions for self and/or peer evaluation. Question areas can include: reliability and commitment, contribution, etiquette and above and beyond duty. PARN will develop a questionnaire, to be completed online by each member of the board; this will be on a password protected page on the PARN website. Board members will then rate their own performance, as well as that of other board members, on a five point scale from ‘excellent’ to ‘needs some improvement’. Questionnaire results are completely confidential, within the parameters decided by your board. Only the individual concerned will know how he/she rated him/herself and no one will know their rating from any single other member. Rather, all receive the average of how all other members rated them. PARN can provide a range of individually tailored reports based on the questionnaire responses, and will advise and support any further discussions as necessary. PARN can also review whatever Council/Board member evaluation and/or development scheme you have been using.

Benefits to Your Organisation

• Promotes reflection on individual performance and areas for improvement
• Boosts confidence of individual members and the board as a whole
• Provides a structured, safe and independently facilitated process
• Sets up a framework that will attract performance-oriented individuals
• Reassures volunteers that their valuable time has been well spent
