Ethical Practice Manager vacancy at IOSH

The Institution of Occupational Safety and Health is Europe’s largest professional body working to promote health and safety. They are looking to fill the following position:

 Ethical Practice Manager (new post)

 £33,000-£35,000 pa + benefits

You will develop and maintain in line with best practice the ethical code for professional practice in the discipline of occupational safety and health, and investigate potential breaches of the IOSH members’ Code of Conduct.

Duties will include:

  • Investigating complaints of breaches of the Code of Conduct and offering advice on its operation to IOSH members and the public
  • Reviewing ethical practice in the health and safety profession and highlighting any issues that may affect the credibility of the profession within the membership and externally
  • Initiating, securing funding for and managing the administration for scholarship schemes for developing health and safety professionals
  • Researching, developing, recommending and administering agreements and memoranda of understanding with other professional bodies in the UK and abroad
  • Monitoring potential registration schemes for health and safety professionals and ensuring that IOSH members’ best interests are addressed
  • Developing the IOSH consultants’ register
  • Developing and operating an equality and diversity policy for IOSH membership and working with the Membership Development Manager and Education Adviser to identify areas for improvement

The successful candidate will have:

  • Education to degree level (a Master’s degree is desirable)
  • Experience of conducting research and investigations
  • The ability to be empathic and manage people who may be in stressful situations
  • An understanding of the UK education system
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills
  • Competence in using Microsoft Office applications
