Routes and Requirements

Autumn 2007

Context

This Research was a joint project between Stan Lester and PARN The research aimed to investigate the various professional associations’ qualifying routes, to examine the routes available to ‘becoming qualified’ in a selection of professions includes:

• what’s considered as ‘professionally qualified’ in each occupation (& its status for practising e.g. essential / desirable / possibly useful)

• routes available to achieving it, proportion coming in by each, associated issues

• barriers - consider e.g. non-graduates, career-change, from associated / subsidiary occupations

• changes - in available routes, in the way people enter the profession.
