CPD: Support and Compliance Challenges
Andy Friedman & Laura Tinner (2016)
Continuing professional development (CPD) continues to command the attention of the professional body sector. We can chart an intensification of effort closely linked to a move away from voluntary practice towards mandated CPD polices, as well as an increase in measuring CPD by outputs.
The shifting CPD landscape introduces associated challenges: how to adequately resource CPD audit; what to do with CPD non compliance; maintaining a consistent standard across member grades and across international networks; and meeting the difficulties of promoting, recording and assessing reflective practice.
Other ‘evergreen’ issues - such as explaining the value and benefit of CPD - also continue to engage the sector.
CPD: Support & Compliance Challenges draws upon surveys and case histories as it reveals the extent to which these challenges are being recognised and the unique ways in which professional bodies are meeting them.
