Head of Education and Professional Development (New post)
Full-time, 37 hours per week
Salary - £53k per annum
CIHT is a thriving membership organisation with offices near Old Street Station in London. One of our key priorities is to support the professional development of people who work in the highways and transportation sector and provide them with routes to professional registration as Engineering Technicians, Incorporated Engineers, Chartered Engineers and Chartered Transport Planning Professionals. We work with employers in the sector to develop apprenticeships and qualifications to maintain professional standards, increase access to Highways and Transportation for people from a variety of backgrounds and maximise their career opportunities.
CIHT is looking for a Head of Education and Professional Development to lead a small team focused on delivering a high quality assessment service, supporting members’ CPD, and developing and adapting CIHT’s education and qualifications offer to reflect the changing and evolving skills needs of a fast-moving transport infrastructure sector. The postholder will advise the Education Board and be the main point of contact for regulatory bodies (e.g. the Engineering Council and Ofqual) and research education partners and stakeholders.
CIHT is one of four Professional Engineering Institutions that make up the Joint Board of Moderators (JBM) which is the body that accredits Further and Higher Education courses in civil, structural and highway engineering. The Head of Education and Professional Development will represent CIHT as a member of the JBM Secretariat, attend Board meetings, take part in accreditation visits, write reports, and advise the Education Board on proposed changes to accreditation policy.
The role is full-time based on a 37 hour working week and includes a contributory pension scheme. The contract will be based on flexible working from our London office. CIHT’s offices are currently closed due to the pandemic so the successful candidate will be required to demonstrate the ability to work from home.
The closing date for applications is 4 December 2020 with interviews to be held virtually the following week.
To apply, please send your CV and a covering letter explaining how you meet the personal specification, skills and competencies to firstname.lastname@example.org Due to the high volume of enquiries that we receive, we can only respond to applicants who we wish to invite for interview. Applications without a covering letter will not be considered.
