We accredit education and training courses and recognise quality ergonomics services. Our activities raise awareness about the broad scope and positive impact of the discipline in all aspects of life and work.

Ambitious professional membership organisation seeks an executive leader of the highest calibre to deliver the Institute’s new 5-year Strategic Plan. The successful candidate will need to inspire and lead our team of staff, contractors and volunteers, and work with the Institute’s Board of Trustees, to increase membership, income and influence, whilst ensuring compliance with the obligations of a charity and Chartered body. This promises to be a rewarding position for the right person.

This is an opportunity to use your skills and experience to raise the Institute’s profile, and to demonstrate a strong and visible passion and commitment to the organisation, its strategic objectives and cause. 

Responsibilities include:

·       Strategic decision-making: experience at senior level of evaluating information and making justifiable decisions to implement the strategy for an organisation. Experience of one or more of the following sectors is essential: technology, education, health and safety, social sciences and international.

·       Delivering results and engaging people: experience of working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to develop and deliver an organisation’s strategy.

·       Corporate governance: ability to apply the principles and practice of corporate governance and an understanding of the role of non-executive directors.

Becoming Chartered at the end of 2014, and this year, celebrating 70 years since its formation, the CIEHF is a professional membership organisation of around 1800 members, all of whom have a deep interest in our science-based discipline of ergonomics and human factors. The administrative office and staff, together with meetings of Trustees, are based in the Birmingham area. The duration of the post is negotiable but is expected to be for five years. It is envisaged that you will work full-time, but part time/ flexible hours will be negotiable to meet business needs.
