Job Title: Membership & Registration Manager / Licensing Registrar
The licensing scheme is a competency-based scheme for railway signalling and telecommunications engineers and technicians. It is run by the IRSE on behalf of the rail industry in the UK and a number of countries worldwide to maintain high standards of competence in this safety critical environment.
The role carries overall responsibility for the management of the scheme, maintaining the integrity of the certification process and following the framework for the issue, renewal and refusal of licenses, as appropriate. Duties include leading the small licensing team, organising and attending committee meetings, the management of field-based assessors and organisation of audits of companies involved with the scheme.
Candidates should have leadership skills, be confident communicators, have an excellent command of written English, and be IT literate. Good organisation, administrative and document control skills are needed and previous experience in a technical/engineering environment and working in a UKAS accredited organisation would be an advantage.
Membership and Registration Manager
This is a key role with prime responsibility for dealing with all
IRSE memberships and Engineering Council registration activities. This includes ensuring IRSE registration processes fall within the requirements of its licence, keep up to date with changes to EC regulations and preparation of submission papers for formal review. The position also includes leading a small team, attendance and minute taking at committee meetings and the management of the annual IRSE examination for members.
Candidates should have excellent administrative and IT skills, good attention to detail, be able to work to pre-set deadlines, have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work flexibly within a small team. Previous experience within the sector or a related engineering environment an advantage.
